Car parks in the centre of Toruń

Car parks in the centre of Toruń

It's difficult to find a parking space in the city centre, despite the fact that parking is charged in both Toruń and other tourist cities in the surroundings. Parking meters are placed in prominent locations to collect parking fees on designated street sections.

For a few hours, when visiting for a short tourist break or shopping, it's better to leave your car for a slightly higher fee in one of the guarded parking lots, which are spread fairly evenly around the UNESCO World Heritage Site (see the map below).

If you're coming to Toruń for an overnight stay in one of the hotels in the area, keep in mind that most of the hotels in the area don't have their own parking lots due to the dense development. In such cases, you should consider finding suitable overnight parking.

For safety and to avoid future problems, remember not to leave any luggage in a visible place in your vehicle.
Anyone who leaves their car in a prohibited area can expect a hefty fine. The municipal police are also authorized to place wheel clamps. The number to call to settle the fine and release the vehicle from the clamp will be listed on the ticket attached to the clamp.

Paid parking zones in Toruń

The paid parking area in central Toruń covers the entire historic centre, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, along with St. Catherine's Suburb and the eastern edge of Bydgoskie Przedmieście (Old Town, New Town, and Przedzamcze), Wola Zamkowa, St. Catherine's Suburb, Ring Road, the eastern edge of Bydgoskie Przedmieście, and three sections of streets in Chełmińskie Przedmieście. This area is divided into three zones:

  • Downtown Paid Parking Zone - Śródmiejska Strefa Płatnego Parkowania (covering Old Town and New Town)
  • Zone A
  • Zone B

Parking fees in the Downtown Paid Parking Zone are collected from Monday to Saturday from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and in the remaining zones (A and B) from Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

Failure to pay parking fees within the zone will result in an additional fee of PLN 60. Parking fees must be paid at the parking meter, and the receipt confirming the payment and indicating the purchased parking time must be placed behind the windshield inside the vehicle. Fee payment is monitored by other dedicated employees of the Municipal Roads Authority. If a parking ticket is not purchased, the inspector will issue a document demanding immediate payment at the MZD ticket office (the address will be provided on the ticket).

Unused parking tickets in one parking space entitle the user to use them in another space within the Zone, within the paid parking time limit.

Parking can be paid for by mobile phone, using the mobiParking service (available at www.skycash.com, by calling 022 40 38 020 and 022 40 38 040) or moBilet (available at www.mobilet.pl, by calling the hotline numbers 0-801 805 900 and 061 66 70 999).

There are no reduced single parking fees for disabled people.
